Ford started to become attracted to acting at the age of teenager, and she joined the National Youth Theatre. She was accepted to the Sylvia Young Theatre School. However, after only a few weeks, she realized it was not for her. Ford was then able to apply for a place in the Central School of Speech and Drama and received an acceptance on her fourth attempt.
